These are the biggest beauty trends for fall - as seen on the runways

As the colors change, the beauty industry goes through its own kind of transformation. But the good news is that some of your favorite trends from summer are here to stay - with perhaps a bit of a fall upgrade.

So that elegant latte beauty trend of milky coffee shades might have a spicy shakeup, and the strawberry tints of summer might take on a new, darker berry hue.

This is our pick of trends from the Fall/Winter 2023 runways.

Spiced latte

Food-inspired beauty trends are not going anywhere. For fall, take the lead from the colors of cranberry, cinnamon, caramel, and chocolate. Dust a little bronzer on your cheeks, or go for a smoky eye in dark browns. 

Metallics

Always a no-brainer for all, metallics are more toned down this season, in warmer shades of khaki, plum, and nudes. Victor & Rolf sent models down the runway with lilac lips, while Chloe added a touch of shimmer in the inner corners of its models’ eyes.

Brights

From lemon-yellow liner at Carolina Herrera to vibrant teal and pink lids paired with bright blue lashes at Anna Sui, it’s clear this is the season to go bold. Eye shadows, liners and mascaras are all rocking electric shades.

Graphic eyes

They’re calling it the Goth Fairy trend, inspired by Rodarte’s extended wing liner, and echoed at Versace and Valentino. It’s the favorite cat eye look on steroids. Just grab your darkest, inkiest liquid liner and don’t stop …

Grunge

Just when you thought the 90s had gone for good, one of its most iconic looks is back.  Cavalli embraced the smudgy, smokey eye with all-round liner. Or go for a dark cocoa lipstick lined with an even darker liner. And let your brows go wild - 1970s goddesses like Catherine Deneuve and Charlotte Rampling are your inspiration for the season.

Vampire lips

Twilight is trending again, and dark lips are the season’s hottest look. Anna Sui’s models wore blood red on the runway, and Olivia Rodrigo takes the trend literally in her video for Vampire. Play around with colors, and think deep burgundy, plum - even black - with high gloss for that freshly bitten look.
